In the 15th minute, Gerardo Giraldo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Godofredo Ponciano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gualterio Heli in the 22nd minute of the match. Godofredo Ponciano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gualterio Heli's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. Godofredo Ponciano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerardo Giraldo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Uriel Oalo charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Uriel Oalo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Correa AFC getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Uriel Oalo hit a great ball. Eliseo Fernandes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Godofredo Ponciano having to interfere. Godofredo Ponciano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gualterio Heli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Benedicto Sayvion managed to get in a good position for a shot. Merced's supporters rose to their feet, but Benedicto Sayvion was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Godofredo Ponciano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gualterio Heli struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Godofredo Ponciano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Merced. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gerardo Giraldo to make the kick off. Godofredo Ponciano made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Benedicto Sayvion sent off a good shot on target. In the 57th minute Virgilio Ieltxu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Angelo Rencio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Merced's Luis Gurutz got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gerardo Giraldo scored 0-1 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Godofredo Ponciano, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Silvio Gartzi got free with Godofredo Ponciano in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Angelo Rencio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgilio Ieltxu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gualterio Heli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Godofredo Ponciano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gualterio Heli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Godofredo Ponciano having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Giraldo in the 94th minute of play forced Correa AFC's goalkeeper Godofredo Ponciano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle sounded Merced left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Correa AFC.
