The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Angelo Rencio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicasio Oro in the 9th minute of the match. With a little luck, Merced's Angelo Rencio got control of the ball when Domingos Froila tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 13th minute, Merced's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Domingos Froila fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Angelo Rencio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicasio Oro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Luis Gurutz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Angelo Rencio made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Vicente Truylos sent off a good shot on target. When Gualterio Heli came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Merced fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gualterio Heli couldn't finish the play. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fogonero's goalkeeper Laureano Patxi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nicasio Oro made a kick off. Luis Gurutz might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Laureano Patxi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luis Gurutz ran back to his position shaking his head. Sixto Sal kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Gerardo Giraldo hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Angelo Rencio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicasio Oro in the 62nd minute of the match. 64 minutes into the match, Merced's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Ferran came free, but Angelo Rencio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A very good chance. Laureano Patxi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gualterio Heli in the 87th minute. After 92 played minutes Fogonero got a freekick which was hit by Mauro Gora. If Gualterio Heli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gualterio Heli was extremely unlucky when he, in the 95th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Despite being the better team, Merced failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
