The supporters of Chivilcoy FC booed when Gualeguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teofilo Vistruario didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 17 played minutes, Chivilcoy FC's Niceto Ekain shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Aurelio Toribio came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Chivilcoy FC reached it. Ariel Paio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. When Jeronimo Franco fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gualeguay's protests and gave Jeronimo Franco a yellow card for diving instead. After 35 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Gualeguay! After some careless play in the Chivilcoy FC defense, Alberto Pero kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Raimundo Grabiel. The Chivilcoy FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Raimundo Grabiel should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ariel Paio in the 97th minute of play forced Chivilcoy FC's goalkeeper Raimundo Grabiel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Gualeguay fans cheered their team off the field, for while Chivilcoy FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
