Cosme Chago scored 0-1 in the 4th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Braulio Santiago, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Faustino Lorencio charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Faustino Lorencio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Gimnasia y Esgrima getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Faustino Lorencio hit a great ball. The score was 1-1 after a penalty in the 13th minute, where Panambí:s Angelino Aresti tricked Gimnasia y Esgrima:s Anibal Arnas with a difficult ball by the left post. A collision led to Panambí getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Hector Gilesindo hit a great ball. 18 minutes into the match, Gimnasia y Esgrima's goal looked a bit too open when Hector Gilesindo came free, but Anibal Arnas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Panambí getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Abelardo Cordeiro hit a great ball. After 24 played minutes Panambí got a freekick which was hit by Edgardo Orland. Anibal Arnas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hector Gilesindo in the 26th minute of play. Gimnasia y Esgrima's Anibal Arnas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Gimnasia y Esgrima from getting a goal against them. After 30 played minutes Gimnasia y Esgrima got a freekick which was hit by Ceferino Diaz. Anibal Arnas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hector Gilesindo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Faustino Lorencio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Braulio Santiago tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Anibal Arnas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hector Gilesindo in the 41st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Panambí's zone, Ceferino Diaz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Braulio Santiago came out of the goal and Ceferino Diaz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

It was a brilliant solo performance by Gimnasia y Esgrima's Igor Balesio when he shot the ball into the net to 2-2 in the 54th minute. Anibal Arnas came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Panambí's Hector Gilesindo. But to his dismay, Hector Gilesindo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. Panambí's Hector Gilesindo got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Anibal Arnas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Angelo Martxot in the 84th minute of play. Igor Balesio hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. 88 minutes into the game, Igor Balesio recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Braulio Santiago. Igor Balesio showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-3. Gimnasia y Esgrima were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
