Domingo Beltza hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. When Luisito Cordara in the 20th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Anibal Arnas kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 1-0 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. Anibal Arnas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luisito Cordara in the 24th minute of play. Domingo Beltza's late challenge caught a Gimnasia y Esgrima's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Domingo Beltza helped the player get up and apologised. After 27 played minutes Juventud Antoniana got a freekick which was hit by Domingo Beltza. 28 minutes into the match, Juventud Antoniana's goal looked a bit too open when Cosme Chago came free, but Bernabe Eneas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Alejandro Arnalt in the 30th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Gimnasia y Esgrima's Ceferino Diaz. After 32 minutes, Hugo Fliz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gimnasia y Esgrima and the Juventud Antoniana players grew even worse after the yellow card. Cosme Chago blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bernabe Eneas having to make a save. In the 37th match minute, Gimnasia y Esgrima was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ceferino Diaz to maneuver through the defense. In a very dangerous position, a player in Gimnasia y Esgrima fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 40th minute. Penalty! In the 42nd minute there was a penalty for Juventud Antoniana. Virgilio Txartiko stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Anibal Arnas. 2-0. After 46 minutes of play, Gimnasia y Esgrima's Cosme Chago made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bernabe Eneas was left in no man's land by his defense there! All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 52nd minute, Cosme Chago got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Juventud Antoniana's Domingo Beltza got a free kick in the 64th minute. In the 67th match minute, Gimnasia y Esgrima was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernardo Ospin to maneuver through the defense. Igor Balesio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Bernabe Eneas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ceferino Diaz kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. In the 77th minute Luisito Cordara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anibal Arnas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Igor Balesio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gimnasia y Esgrima's supporters rose to their feet, but Igor Balesio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bernabe Eneas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 85 minutes into the match, Samuel Uxio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Anibal Arnas. Gimnasia y Esgrima's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Samuel Uxio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luisito Cordara in the 90th minute of play forced Gimnasia y Esgrima's goalkeeper Anibal Arnas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gimnasia y Esgrima's Anibal Arnas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisito Cordara in the 92nd minute of play. A collision led to Juventud Antoniana getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Luisito Cordara hit a great ball. Cosme Chago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Bernabe Eneas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Juventud Antoniana players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
