The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Edgard Galindo's late challenge caught a Estrella Dorada's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. When Cecilio Ticho came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Estrella Dorada fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cecilio Ticho couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Valle booed when Estrella Dorada was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnaldo Fonso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Celedonio Eguntsenti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Freddy Nesor having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Valle's zone, Cecilio Ticho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elias Enmanuel came out of the goal and Cecilio Ticho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Cecilio Ticho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Elias Enmanuel was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Valle's zone, Arnaldo Fonso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elias Enmanuel came out of the goal and Arnaldo Fonso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Celedonio Eguntsenti struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Freddy Nesor didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Valle. Adrian Refugio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Freddy Nesor having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arnaldo Fonso made a kick off. Celedonio Eguntsenti sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Adrian Refugio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Elias Enmanuel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaldo Fonso, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
