Nicanor Quintana hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Silvano Rozarius showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredo Frechoso in the 5th minute of the match. Alfredo Frechoso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvano Rozarius having to interfere. With a little luck, NEWELLS OLD BOYS's Danilo Oskarbi got control of the ball when Arsenio Bela tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alfredo Frechoso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. NEWELLS OLD BOYS's Danilo Oskarbi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iker Victoro in the 18th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Frechoso in the 23rd minute of play forced La Patada Cubana's goalkeeper Silvano Rozarius to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25th minute Alfredo Frechoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silvano Rozarius saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. NEWELLS OLD BOYS's Candido Goyo got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as La Patada Cubana's Iker Victoro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Danilo Oskarbi. That made the score 1-0 after 40 minutes of play. NEWELLS OLD BOYS's Candido Goyo quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Javier Eliazar, made in the 45th minute of the game. NEWELLS OLD BOYS's Alfredo Frechoso got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Iker Victoro made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduardo Boni in the 52nd minute of play forced NEWELLS OLD BOYS's goalkeeper Danilo Oskarbi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, La Patada Cubana's Eduardo Boni got a free kick in the 54th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Alfredo Frechoso managed to get in a good position for a shot. NEWELLS OLD BOYS's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfredo Frechoso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Silvano Rozarius breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Alfredo Frechoso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Silvano Rozarius was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfredo Frechoso in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Silvano Rozarius saved La Patada Cubana from getting behind. Danilo Oskarbi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arsenio Bela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 68th minute, Eduardo Boni got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Danilo Oskarbi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eduardo Boni, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. When Alfredo Frechoso came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the NEWELLS OLD BOYS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredo Frechoso couldn't finish the play. Arsenio Bela kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. 80 minutes into the game, Iker Victoro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Danilo Oskarbi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Silvano Liberto charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Silvano Liberto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 90th minute, Silvano Liberto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. La Patada Cubana's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
