The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Oscar Emeterio came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Santa Clara fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oscar Emeterio couldn't finish the play. Segundo Teodor hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Oscar Emeterio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santa Clara's supporters rose to their feet, but Oscar Emeterio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfonso Gonzales breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Oscar Emeterio struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 18 minutes into the match, Romulo Harkaitz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alfonso Gonzales. Avantgarde's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Romulo Harkaitz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 22nd minute, Oscar Emeterio fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Alfonso Gonzales, passed just outside the right post. Santa Clara's Severo Belarmo got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Oscar Emeterio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alfonso Gonzales read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. Alfonso Gonzales made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nereo Cesaro in the 26th minute of play. In the 28th minute Luis Ganix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cayetano Firme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 34 minutes into the match, Santa Clara's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Ganix came free, but Cayetano Firme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Oscar Emeterio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Oscar Emeterio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfonso Gonzales having to interfere. Oscar Emeterio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Oscar Emeterio made a kick off. Oscar Emeterio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Alfonso Gonzales tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Santa Clara's Melchor Ermano got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alfonso Gonzales came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Santa Clara's Oscar Emeterio. But to his dismay, Oscar Emeterio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. After 61 minutes, Segundo Teodor mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Avantgarde and the Santa Clara players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 61st match minute, Avantgarde was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Segundo Teodor to maneuver through the defense. Oscar Emeterio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfonso Gonzales having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Romulo Harkaitz during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Santa Clara's Romulo Harkaitz got a free kick in the 66th minute. Luis Ganix fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cayetano Firme having to interfere. Santa Clara's Oscar Emeterio got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Oscar Emeterio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 82 minutes into the match, Santa Clara's Oscar Emeterio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alfonso Gonzales narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 84thth minute of the game Blas Kaiet who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Santa Clara's Cayetano Firme was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 84 played minutes Santa Clara got a freekick which was hit by Melchor Ermano. In the 88th minute, Severo Belarmo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Niceto Gonchan in the 89th minute really tested Cayetano Firme's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Blas Kaiet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Cayetano Firme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cayetano Firme made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Domingos Frantzes sent off a good shot on target. There was no doubt that Santa Clara were the better team. Santa Clara's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
