When Aristides Gasteiz fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ñupi's protests and gave Aristides Gasteiz a yellow card for diving instead. In the 3rd match minute, Ñupi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aristides Gasteiz to maneuver through the defense. After 6 minutes, Leonel Haimar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ñupi and the alumni azuleño players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 6th match minute, Ñupi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonel Haimar to maneuver through the defense. Nereo Shepherd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Fernan Fidensio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Marciano Danel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 14th minute Nereo Shepherd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernan Fidensio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nereo Shepherd struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Fernan Fidensio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for alumni azuleño. Fernan Fidensio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nereo Shepherd, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nereo Shepherd in the 25th minute of play forced Ñupi's goalkeeper Fernan Fidensio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 26 minutes into the game, Nestor Tello was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ñupi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave alumni azuleño the free kick. Nestor Tello hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. When Fernan Eriz came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the alumni azuleño fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fernan Eriz couldn't finish the play. Eusebio Aritza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernan Fidensio having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in alumni azuleño's zone, Marciano Danel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sebastian Eliazar came out of the goal and Marciano Danel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind alumni azuleño's goalkeeper Sebastian Eliazar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 45th match minute, Ñupi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nestor Tello to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 47 minutes, Nereo Shepherd managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. alumni azuleño's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nereo Shepherd was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marciano Danel made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Fernan Eriz managed to get in a good position for a shot. alumni azuleño's supporters rose to their feet, but Fernan Eriz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fernan Fidensio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 54th minute, Fernan Eriz made a precise shot to the right of Fernan Fidensio. Ñupi's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Fernan Fidensio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nereo Shepherd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62nd minute, Marciano Danel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 63rd minute, Cleto Ranolfo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of alumni azuleño booed when Ñupi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marciano Danel didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ñupi's zone, Nereo Shepherd stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernan Fidensio came out of the goal and Nereo Shepherd tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Oscar Santxol during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Ñupi getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Oscar Santxol hit a great ball. After having played for 80 minutes, Nereo Shepherd managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. alumni azuleño's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nereo Shepherd was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fernan Eriz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Fernan Eriz came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the alumni azuleño fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fernan Eriz couldn't finish the play. In the 88th minute, Gregorio Maiorga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 90 minutes of play, alumni azuleño's Nereo Shepherd made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fernan Fidensio was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ñupi's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
