With his leg Rickard Lindström managed to avoid a goal in the 7thth minute, when Independiente's Arturo Blai fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 11 minutes into the match, Talleres's goal looked a bit too open when Leonides Ruy came free, but Rickard Lindström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 26th minute, Gilberto Eufrasio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Romulo Maurin was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. When Gilberto Eufrasio came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Talleres fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilberto Eufrasio couldn't finish the play. Romulo Maurin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eduardo Presebal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Talleres's Rickard Lindström got control of the ball when Arturo Blai tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gilberto Eufrasio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 50th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

Eduardo Presebal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Romulo Maurin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match clock showed 57 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Eduardo Presebal sped through Independiente's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Romulo Maurin. Ildefonso Mergildo might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Romulo Maurin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ildefonso Mergildo ran back to his position shaking his head. A hard shot 60 in the game by Eduardo Presebal from a close distance when the talented Romulo Maurin managed to make a qualified save. Independiente's players were relieved. Romulo Maurin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilberto Eufrasio, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. After a rather tough play, Independiente's Ciro Santana got a free kick in the 73rd minute. After 77 minutes of play, Talleres's Eduardo Presebal made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Romulo Maurin was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 83 minutes, Saturnino Abad mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Talleres and the Independiente players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Independiente booed when Talleres was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Saturnino Abad didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Romulo Maurin managed to avoid a goal in the 87thth minute, when Talleres's Eduardo Presebal fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.
