Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) 7 minutes into the game, Rene Terciero was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Instituto's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Matará the free kick. In the 7th minute, Rene Terciero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Instituto's goalkeeper Freddy Gagriel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Freddy Gagriel made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Aquiles Salamon sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Instituto's zone, Ambrosio Errando stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Freddy Gagriel came out of the goal and Ambrosio Errando tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Instituto's Saul Hechter got a free kick in the 18th minute. A collision led to Instituto getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Sergio Cordairo hit a great ball. Freddy Gagriel made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Aquiles Salamon sent off a good shot on target. 24 minutes into the match, Instituto's goal looked a bit too open when Celso Firman came free, but Freddy Gagriel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aquiles Salamons short, quick shot in the 25thth minute got Freddy Gagriel to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Aquiles Salamon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Freddy Gagriel having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, Instituto's goalkeeper Freddy Gagriel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aquiles Salamon. Severo Cuartio did an outstanding performance 37 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 1-0 to the right of an irritated Freddy Gagriel in the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Severo Cuartio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Matará's supporters rose to their feet, but Severo Cuartio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Freddy Gagriel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Aquiles Salamon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Freddy Gagriel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Instituto's zone, Ambrosio Errando stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Freddy Gagriel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

After having played for 57 minutes, Aquiles Salamon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Matará's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aquiles Salamon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rene Terciero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sergio Cordairo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Matará booed when Instituto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rene Terciero didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Apolo Sotero in the 70th minute of play forced Instituto's goalkeeper Freddy Gagriel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Freddy Gagriel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aquiles Salamon in the 74th minute of play. In the 77th minute, Aquiles Salamon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Freddy Gagriel was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Instituto's Freddy Gagriel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ambrosio Errando in the 81st minute of play. 84 minutes into the match, Instituto's goal looked a bit too open when Ambrosio Errando came free, but Freddy Gagriel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 87 minutes into the game, Matará's Aquiles Salamon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Freddy Gagriel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. If Aquiles Salamon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute.
