Spectators: 7146 (Terracing: 5393, Seating: 1653, VIP seats: 100) Lucio Gabino started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After 4 minutes, Venancio Bastiaro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CF La Plata and the Newells Old Boys players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 4th match minute, CF La Plata was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Venancio Bastiaro to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 5 minutes, Guillermo Presebal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newells Old Boys's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guillermo Presebal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 6th match minute, CF La Plata was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ladislao Franco to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guillermo Presebal in the 9th minute of play forced CF La Plata's goalkeeper Isaac Dimas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Guillermo Presebal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isaac Dimas having to interfere. 14 minutes into the game, Godofredo Oinaz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Isaac Dimas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 19thth minute of the game Lucio Gabino who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Newells Old Boys's Ramon Tirso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. CF La Plata's Isaac Dimas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Godofredo Oinaz in the 21st minute of play. Venancio Bastiaro got his second yellow card in the match during the 23rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Venancio Bastiaro kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. In the 25th minute of the match Felipe Hernandez shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Isaac Dimas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Isaac Dimas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Godofredo Oinaz in the 26th minute of play. Isaac Dimas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guillermo Presebal, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. 34 minutes into the match, CF La Plata's goal looked a bit too open when Guillermo Presebal came free, but Isaac Dimas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 37th minute, Guillermo Presebal made a precise shot to the right of Isaac Dimas. CF La Plata's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. In the 43rdth minute of the game Guillermo Presebal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CF La Plata's Isaac Dimas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Isaac Dimas came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Newells Old Boys's Godofredo Oinaz. But to his dismay, Godofredo Oinaz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Guillermo Presebal made the kick off in the second half. When Ladislao Franco fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CF La Plata's protests and gave Ladislao Franco a yellow card for diving instead. Ladislao Franco kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Isaac Dimas made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Godofredo Oinaz sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Godofredo Oinaz got free with Isaac Dimas in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Ladislao Franco was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 64 minutes had been played. In the 65th minute, Ladislao Franco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 67 minutes in the game, Guillermo Presebal fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Isaac Dimas having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Lucio Gabino managed to get in a good position for a shot. CF La Plata's supporters rose to their feet, but Lucio Gabino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ramon Tirso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Angelo Javiar kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Godofredo Oinaz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Isaac Dimas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guillermo Presebal, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind CF La Plata's goalkeeper Isaac Dimas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Newells Old Boys had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
