The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Guillermo Presebal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aquiles Nuxila having to interfere. In the 8thth minute of the game Guillermo Presebal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SAMU F.C.'s Aquiles Nuxila was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 11 minutes into the game, Godofredo Oinaz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Aquiles Nuxila was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Ricardo Sabino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ricardo Sabino kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Ramon Tirso was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Gaspar Quinten. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Isias in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ramon Tirso saved Newells Old Boys from getting behind. Godofredo Oinaz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tomas Isias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ramon Tirso having to interfere. In the 35th match minute, SAMU F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oscar Lop to maneuver through the defense. Ramon Tirso was a little too slow when Tomas Isias got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 40th minute. The score was now 1-1. If Julio Maidana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Isias was the one to do the kick off. Ramon Tirso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Isias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 53rd minute Tomas Isias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramon Tirso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ramon Tirso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Omar Clementi, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Godofredo Oinaz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Omar Clementi hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. 70 minutes into the game, Godofredo Oinaz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newells Old Boys's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SAMU F.C. the free kick. After a rather tough play, Newells Old Boys's Godofredo Oinaz got a free kick in the 70th minute. 76 minutes into the match, Godofredo Oinaz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aquiles Nuxila. SAMU F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Godofredo Oinaz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. 87 minutes into the match, Newells Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Julio Maidana came free, but Ramon Tirso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Tomas Isias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Newells Old Boys's Ricardo Sabino got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Julio Maidana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Ramon Tirso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ricardo Sabino's late challenge caught a SAMU F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ricardo Sabino helped the player get up and apologised.
