La Oreja De Van Gogh's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fabio Itzaina was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. A collision led to Tiamayo AFC getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Sergio Jaunti hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Tiamayo AFC's zone, Hugo Jaizki stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eduardo Domingues came out of the goal and Hugo Jaizki tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Delmiro Tartalo came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the La Oreja De Van Gogh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Delmiro Tartalo couldn't finish the play. A collision led to La Oreja De Van Gogh getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Miguel Javiar hit a great ball. In the 21st minute, Christian Leobardo sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and La Oreja De Van Gogh's Arnaldo Aurken didn't even have to move. Delmiro Tartalo might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eduardo Domingues. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Delmiro Tartalo ran back to his position shaking his head. Hugo Jaizki's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eduardo Domingues read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. If Felipe Florin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 39 minutes into the match, La Oreja De Van Gogh's goal looked a bit too open when Felipe Florin came free, but Arnaldo Aurken reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fabio Itzaina received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Arnaldo Aurken tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Felipe Florin was the one to do the kick off. Tiamayo AFC's Felipe Florin got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 54 minutes into the game, Benjamin Eneko was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. La Oreja De Van Gogh's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tiamayo AFC the free kick. Fabio Itzaina might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arnaldo Aurken. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fabio Itzaina ran back to his position shaking his head. Tiamayo AFC's Felipe Florin got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fabio Itzaina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnaldo Aurken having to interfere. In the 68th minute, Severino Constancio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 74th minute Fabio Itzaina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnaldo Aurken saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 91st match minute, Tiamayo AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricardo Argoitz to maneuver through the defense. 92 minutes into the match, Tiamayo AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Jaizki came free, but Eduardo Domingues reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Christian Isauro fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tiamayo AFC's protests and gave Christian Isauro a yellow card for diving instead. Arnaldo Aurken didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fabio Itzaina went, in the 96th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. La Oreja De Van Gogh's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
