The referee ignored Marzala's protests and gave Celso Xacintu a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 36th minute of the game. One of Marzala:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Iván De Pineda:s goal. Adolfo Urdaspal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonas Valadares in the 41st minute of play. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Marzala's goalkeeper Adolfo Urdaspal, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cristo Ciano to make the kick off. Conrado Ariando hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Iván De Pineda's Bartolo Matthew managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Christian Osoro in the 55 minute of the game. A collision led to Iván De Pineda getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Bartolo Matthew hit a great ball. When Justino Malvin fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marzala's protests and gave Justino Malvin a yellow card for diving instead. Adolfo Urdaspal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaston Xabat in the 60th minute of play. In the 61st match minute, Marzala was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lázaro Dimas to maneuver through the defense. Iván De Pineda's Dante Guillem suffered a sore thigh after 64 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After taking down the ball on Marzala's corner Celso Xacintu fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Igor Cordarin quite easily take care of the ball. 82 minutes into the match, Iván De Pineda's Gaston Xabat sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Adolfo Urdaspal narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Marzala's Adolfo Urdaspal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gaston Xabat in the 85th minute of play. In the 88th minute Gaston Xabat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adolfo Urdaspal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gaston Xabat blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adolfo Urdaspal having to make a save. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Iván De Pineda fully deserved thier win.
