But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Saturnino Efraim couldn't finish the play. Filomeno Garci's late challenge caught a Guandacol's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Filomeno Garci helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Guandacol booed when gilguero was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filomeno Garci didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Osvaldo Ongile's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Froilan Chorache was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. Guandacol's supporters rose to their feet, but Patricio Viator was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Froilan Chorache breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emanuel Rodas in the 69th minute of play forced Guandacol's goalkeeper Omar Cordero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alvaro Ezkerra struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Omar Cordero didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for gilguero. In the 80th minute, Fausto Roldanillo made a precise shot to the right of Omar Cordero. Guandacol's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Omar Cordero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alvaro Ezkerra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Froilan Chorache made an important save on a dangerous shot by Saturnino Efraim in the 86th minute. After 88 played minutes Guandacol got a freekick which was hit by Osvaldo Ongile. After having played for 90 minutes, Emanuel Rodas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. gilguero's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emanuel Rodas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Saturnino Efraim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The gilguero fans cheered their team off the field, for while Guandacol had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
