Bernabe Ganix showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Alvarez, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. After a rather tough play, Club Nacional de Futbol's Lorenzo Giro got a free kick in the 16th minute. Jeronimo Francos short, quick shot in the 21stth minute got Celestino Loren to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 21 played minutes Instituto got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Cordaro. In the 25th minute, Pedro Alvarez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Instituto fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. If Herminio Oso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the game, Leo Jon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Nacional de Futbol's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Instituto the free kick. In the 33rd minute, Leo Jon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Alvarez in the 39th minute of play forced Club Nacional de Futbol's goalkeeper Bernabe Ganix to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jeronimo Franco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celestino Loren having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Placido Jaunti to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpected shot in the 56th minute by Pedro Alvarez got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Herminio Oso scored 0-2 in the 60th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bernabe Ganix, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 65th match minute, Instituto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mario Raitin to maneuver through the defense. In the 66th minute, Lorenzo Giro sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Instituto's Celestino Loren didn't even have to move. Jeronimo Franco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Placido Jaunti managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Nacional de Futbol's supporters rose to their feet, but Placido Jaunti was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Celestino Loren breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jeronimo Franco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celestino Loren having to interfere. Pedro Alvarez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Jeronimo Franco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Club Nacional de Futbol's Bernabe Ganix got control of the ball when Herminio Oso tried to sneak it across the goal line.
