Fidel Dorio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edgard Abascals short, quick shot in the 35thth minute got Candido Hulberto to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Candido Hulberto made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Edgard Abascal sent off a good shot on target. During the 44th minute of the match Ruben Urbasa completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Ruben Urbasa a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. 44 minutes into the game, one of Los Griegos:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The supporters of Independiente booed when Los Griegos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ruben Montae didn't get a good kick on the ball. Los Griegos were awarded a corner in the 57th minute after Independiente's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Serafino Romano took the corner. In the 58th minute, Gogo Pio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Candido Hulberto was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Aureliano Urtats yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Esteban Iratze hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Fidel Dorio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Aureliano Urtats made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Independiente's zone, Gogo Pio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Candido Hulberto came out of the goal and Gogo Pio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Independiente's Adan Rivas got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Independiente had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
