Ranquilcó's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pastor Mingo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ranquilcó's Anier Mitxel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Generoso Bikendi in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute Generoso Bikendi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anier Mitxel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 28th minute of the match, Zeledon Oxel got a very nice opportunity to score, but Anier Mitxel was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Ranquilcó's Rolando Cordara got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Saverio Elivareo in the 36th minute of play forced LOS CHAPLIN's goalkeeper Erasmo Urdin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erasmo Urdin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saverio Elivareo in the 38th minute of play. Ranquilcó's Anier Mitxel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Generoso Bikendi in the 42nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Ranquilcó's zone, Generoso Bikendi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anier Mitxel came out of the goal and Generoso Bikendi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Ranquilcó booed when LOS CHAPLIN was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ovidio Bidari didn't get a good kick on the ball. 50 minutes had been played when some careless play by LOS CHAPLIN's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jairo Federigo was slow to take the kick. During this time Ranquilcó's players had a chance to rest. Blas Illan was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Generoso Bikendi to make the kick off. Saverio Elivareo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erasmo Urdin having to interfere. 59 minutes into the game, Rolando Cordara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ranquilcó's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave LOS CHAPLIN the free kick. Rolando Cordara kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Anier Mitxel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Generoso Bikendi in the 60th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in LOS CHAPLIN's zone, Pastor Mingo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erasmo Urdin came out of the goal and Pastor Mingo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 72 minutes into the match, Saverio Elivareo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Erasmo Urdin, 0-1. Anier Mitxel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zeledon Oxel in the 85th minute of play. Erasmo Urdin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pastor Mingo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 94th minute Delmar Estavan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anier Mitxel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Saverio Elivareo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 100th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Ranquilcó supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ranquilcó would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
