An unexpectedly hard shot by Narciso Transito in the 25th minute of play forced Tabaquillo FC's goalkeeper Joel Olayo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hermengildo Tiniebra hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Atilano Chesus who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 31stth minute tested the skills of Epifanio Bras when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 31st minute, Vinicio Otsando hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Diego Valentine struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Joel Olayo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rumiñahui. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cecilio Gonzales was the one to do the kick off. Joel Olayo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Narciso Frasquito took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Joel Olayo to make any attempt to save it. 87 minutes into the game, Rosendo Sidro recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Joel Olayo. Rosendo Sidro showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. If Narciso Frasquito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joel Olayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Valentine in the 93rd minute of play. When Anier Valiente fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tabaquillo FC's protests and gave Anier Valiente a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Tabaquillo FC's Anier Valiente got a free kick in the 96th minute. Narciso Frasquito's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Joel Olayo firmly grabbed it by the left post. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Tabaquillo FC lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
