Laureano Gurutz helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Gonnet booed when Chancay FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laureano Gurutz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eriberto Pancho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cleto Gabon, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 46 minutes into the match, Gonnet's goal looked a bit too open when Delmiro Azevedo came free, but Fausto Ruisko reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Delmiro Azevedo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cleto Gabon got free with Eriberto Pancho in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eriberto Pancho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cleto Gabon in the 70th minute. If Cleto Gabon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Delmiro Azevedo in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fausto Ruisko saved Gonnet from getting behind. Fausto Ruisko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Delmiro Azevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. 86 minutes into the match, Chancay FC's Delmiro Azevedo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fausto Ruisko narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
