But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Remigio Rayman couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Independiente booed when Cajón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aquilino Hats didn't get a good kick on the ball. 20 minutes into the game, Elias Gines was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Independiente's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cajón the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Filomeno Sendoa in the 40th minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Florencio Kaiet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Filomeno Sendoa might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Florencio Kaiet. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Filomeno Sendoa ran back to his position shaking his head. Marciano Distiratsu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Remigio Rayman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 49th minute. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marciano Distiratsu to make the kick off. Filomeno Sendoa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Florencio Kaiet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marciano Distiratsu in the 59th minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Florencio Kaiet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 62 played minutes, Cajón's Maximo Rey shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Florencio Kaiet came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cajón reached it. 65 minutes into the match, Independiente's Remigio Rayman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Constantino Lizer narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Constantino Lizer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Remigio Rayman, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. In the 71st minute Independiente were awarded a corner. Elias Gines went to the cornerflag to take it. Constantino Lizer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Remigio Rayman in the 74th minute of the match. Cajón's Filomeno Sendoa got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Florencio Kaiet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marciano Distiratsu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Remigio Rayman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Constantino Lizer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 87 minutes into the match, Fulgencio Lucado notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Cajón's Constantino Lizer. Constantino Lizer was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Constantino Lizer came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Independiente's Silvio Rio. But to his dismay, Silvio Rio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Independiente's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
