New Castle FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Evaristo Iliana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Timoteo Teofilio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mateo Montez's late challenge caught a Banfield's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mateo Montez helped the player get up and apologised. 13 minutes into the match, New Castle FC's Evaristo Iliana sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jacobo Mingo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Banfield's Segundo Admon got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Amadeo Laurin hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Jacobo Mingo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Timoteo Teofilio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 47thth minute of the game Timoteo Teofilio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Banfield's Jacobo Mingo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Timoteo Teofilio made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Aquiles Demario hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jacobo Mingo was out of position in the 60 minute of play, and Angelino Urki capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Angelino Urki really showed his touch with that goal: 0-1. After a rather tough play, Banfield's Basilio Ezkerra got a free kick in the 66th minute. In the 68th minute, Evaristo Iliana got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Evaristo Iliana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
