Corti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teo Cordearo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eduardo Pepillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gualterio Xabel having to interfere. The supporters of Belgrano FC booed when Corti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dalmacio Santxol didn't get a good kick on the ball. Horacio Orain received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Gualterio Xabel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30th minute Eduardo Pepillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gualterio Xabel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gualterio Xabel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horacio Orain in the 31st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horacio Orain in the 32nd minute of play forced Corti's goalkeeper Gualterio Xabel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Horacio Orain stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Corti's goal looked a bit too open when Horacio Orain came free, but Gualterio Xabel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 71 minutes, Gualterio Xabel successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eduardo Pepillo got free with Gualterio Xabel in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Teo Cordearo struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Eliseo Lluciano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Corti.
