If Ignacio Igon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 14 minutes into the match, Los Planktons's goal looked a bit too open when Santiago García came free, but Ovidio Dominguez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, Riverpool's Ovidio Dominguez threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Santiago García, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Maximino Rozarius had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was a well-played corner which Celso Cristos managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. An unexpectedly hard shot by Santiago García in the 27th minute of play forced Los Planktons's goalkeeper Ovidio Dominguez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ovidio Dominguez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eliseo Esdras in the 28th minute of the match. Ovidio Dominguez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santiago García, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. A collision led to Riverpool getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Eusebio Normando hit a great ball. An unexpected shot in the 38th minute by Santiago García got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abelardo Monico in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eliseo Igon saved Riverpool from getting behind. After having played for 45 minutes, Santiago García managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Riverpool's supporters crossed their fingers, but Santiago García was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Abelardo Monico was the one to do the kick off. Los Planktons's supporters rose to their feet, but Ignacio Igon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eliseo Igon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Riverpool's Generoso Balesio got a free kick in the 70th minute. Eliseo Esdras fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ovidio Dominguez having to interfere. Abelardo Monico struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Eliseo Igon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Los Planktons. Ambrosio Bermund received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Eliseo Igon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Riverpool's Eliseo Igon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Riverpool from getting a goal against them. After having played for 80 minutes, Santiago García managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Riverpool's supporters crossed their fingers, but Santiago García was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Abelardo Monico took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Eliseo Igon to make any attempt to save it. Riverpool were furious when Generoso Balesio was red carded, 84 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in Riverpool fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 84th minute. Penalty! Eliseo Igon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Abelardo Monico in the 91st minute. Abelardo Monico blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eliseo Igon having to make a save. The Los Planktons supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Los Planktons would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
