Spectators: 6464 (Terracing: 5464, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Leonides Basualdo kicked off to start the match. A collision led to Sao Caetano getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Cayetano Stanislao hit a great ball. When La Academia's Leonides Basualdo in the 6th minute got a chance for a shot 6th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sao Caetano's goalie prevented a goal. In the 10th minute Leonides Basualdo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hector Taurino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When La Academia's Leonides Basualdo in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sao Caetano's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of La Academia booed when Sao Caetano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sixto Terciero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leonides Basualdo took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hector Taurino. Hector Taurino dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Leonides Basualdo managed to get in a good position for a shot. La Academia's supporters rose to their feet, but Leonides Basualdo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hector Taurino breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Sao Caetano's zone, Leonides Basualdo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hector Taurino came out of the goal and Leonides Basualdo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Leonides Basualdo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hector Taurino having to interfere. In the 25th minute Leonides Basualdo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hector Taurino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Leonides Basualdo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Hector Taurino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonides Basualdo in the 35th minute of play. Leonides Basualdo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rene Valentine might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hector Taurino. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rene Valentine ran back to his position shaking his head. Andres Nuñez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andres Nuñez to make the kick off. Guillermo Mateo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 58 played minutes Sao Caetano got a freekick which was hit by Sixto Terciero. The audience was convinced that Amancio Elivareo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Guillermo Mateo was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Sao Caetano's zone, Cornelio Caetano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hector Taurino came out of the goal and Cornelio Caetano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When La Academia's Leonides Basualdo in the 81st minute got a chance for a shot 81st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. La Academia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leonides Basualdo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 88th minute, Leonides Basualdo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hector Taurino was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. La Academia played a much better game than Sao Caetano and deserved their victory. The Sao Caetano players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
