Racing Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave San Lorenzo the free kick. Gerardo Fidencio, 5 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Christian Fernado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Serafin Gaueko tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Racing Club getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Serafin Gaueko showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Claudio Izotz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roque Ostots, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st match minute, San Lorenzo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Candido Boni to maneuver through the defense. 23 minutes into the match, San Lorenzo's goal looked a bit too open when Octavio Gorri came free, but Claudio Izotz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Claudio Izotz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Octavio Gorri, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. 30 minutes into the match, Racing Club's Octavio Gorri sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Claudio Izotz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 38 minutes, Norberto Admon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. San Lorenzo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Norberto Admon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Norberto Admon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Norberto Admon was the one to do the kick off. After 54 minutes, Tobias Toli mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Racing Club and the San Lorenzo players grew even worse after the yellow card. 53 minutes into the game, one of Racing Club:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Gerardo Fidencio placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Serafin Gaueko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Fernado, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Jeremias Nisio charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jeremias Nisio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jeremias Nisio hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. If Norberto Admon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 76th minute, Christian Fernado ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Serafin Gaueko was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Roque Ostots fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudio Izotz having to interfere. In the 84th minute, Lázaro Sal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Christian Fernado came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the San Lorenzo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christian Fernado couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Norberto Admon in the 94th minute of play forced Racing Club's goalkeeper Serafin Gaueko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. San Lorenzo fully deserved thier win.
