Zacarias Romo's late challenge caught a Candelaria's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zacarias Romo helped the player get up and apologised. After 6 played minutes Club Atletico River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Zacarias Romo. 7 minutes into the game, Ernesto Dayam cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Amador Tohias was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience was convinced that Martin Baristo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Amador Tohias was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game. Isidoro Deunoro came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atletico River Plate's Guido Iliana. But to his dismay, Guido Iliana quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Martin Baristo made a kick off. Martin Baristo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Amador Tohias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Amador Tohias didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Martin Baristo went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. Amador Tohias stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Martin Baristo's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. Amador Tohias didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ernesto Dayam went, in the 62nd minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. Ernesto Dayam struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Amador Tohias didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Candelaria. After a rather tough play, Club Atletico River Plate's Paulino Baudelio got a free kick in the 66th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Club Atletico River Plate's zone, Ernesto Dayam stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Amador Tohias came out of the goal and Ernesto Dayam tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 70th minute Martin Baristo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amador Tohias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Amador Tohias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ernesto Dayam in the 96th minute of the match. Candelaria's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
