Herrera's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gastre FC the free kick. After 46 played minutes Herrera got a freekick which was hit by Teofilo Austin. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Amador Quico showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vinicio Serapio, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Baldomero Galo might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Saturnino Henric. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Baldomero Galo ran back to his position shaking his head. Marco Cedro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Amador Quico read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. Gastre FC's Vinicio Serapio got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Herrera's Edgard Berart slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Saturnino Henric. That made the score 1-1 after 80 minutes of play. After 83 played minutes Herrera got a freekick which was hit by Conrado Gorka. When the match clock showed 94 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Baldomero Galo sped through Gastre FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Saturnino Henric. The Gastre FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Herrera's performance. The match ended with a win for Herrera.
