The audience was convinced that Cirilo Vincent's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Silvano Jerardo was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. In a very dangerous position, a player in California Sun FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 7th minute. Penalty! Marco Galindo went to the wrong direction when Ruperto Pirro was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. After a rather tough play, Cachiporra FC's Jeremias Txaran got a free kick in the 16th minute. After some careless play in the Cachiporra FC defense, Jairo Gonzalez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Silvano Jerardo. The Cachiporra FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Silvano Jerardo should have stopped the shot. 44 minutes into the match, Cachiporra FC's goalkeeper Silvano Jerardo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jairo Gonzalez.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cirilo Vincent made a kick off. California Sun FC's Marco Galindo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save California Sun FC from getting a goal against them. Jairo Gonzalez struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Silvano Jerardo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for California Sun FC. If Cirilo Vincent had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silvano Jerardo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cirilo Vincent in the 60th minute of play. Jairo Gonzalez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvano Jerardo having to interfere. If Cirilo Vincent had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Prospero Jatsu couldn't finish the play. Filiberto Toribio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Silvano Jerardo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jairo Gonzalez's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. Prospero Jatsu might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marco Galindo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Prospero Jatsu ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Prospero Jatsu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cachiporra FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Prospero Jatsu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marco Galindo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 96th minute, Cachiporra FC's Dario Maura seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Dario Maura the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Cachiporra FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Dario Maura had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. California Sun FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
