When Isidro Deunoro came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Gilera fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isidro Deunoro couldn't finish the play. Bartolo Solustiano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Teodoro Inautzi having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Gilera's zone, Cipriano Bertran stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fausto Abilio came out of the goal and Cipriano Bertran tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cipriano Bertran fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fausto Abilio having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Antonio Etxatxu in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fausto Abilio saved Gilera from getting behind. After having played for 47 minutes, Bartolo Solustiano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gilera's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bartolo Solustiano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Antonio Etxatxu was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Cipriano Bertran got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Challacó's Antonio Etxatxu in the 55th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Fausto Abilio was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Gilera through an amazing save. 56 minutes into the match, Challacó's Cipriano Bertran sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fausto Abilio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Isidro Deunoro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Teodoro Inautzi was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. Gilera's Fausto Abilio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antonio Etxatxu in the 60th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antonio Etxatxu in the 68th minute of play forced Gilera's goalkeeper Fausto Abilio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Isidro Deunoro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Challacó's Gogo Valente got a free kick in the 84th minute. In the 85thth minute of the game Isidro Deunoro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Challacó's Teodoro Inautzi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 86 minutes into the game, Marcos Aimar was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Challacó's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gilera the free kick. The supporters of Gilera booed when Challacó was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcos Aimar didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 88 minutes, Bartolo Solustiano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gilera's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bartolo Solustiano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gogo Valente struck a weak shot in the 99th minute. Fausto Abilio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Challacó. The Gilera supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Challacó's performance. The match ended with a win for Challacó.
