In the 17th minute, Los Diablos Rojos's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Sergio Astigar fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Jacinto Polo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sergio Astigar, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. In the 21st minute Rojo for ever were awarded a corner. Christian Telmo went to the cornerflag to take it. When Sergio Astigar came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Rojo for ever fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sergio Astigar couldn't finish the play. In the 25th minute Sergio Astigar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacinto Polo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 27 played minutes Rojo for ever got a freekick which was hit by Rodolfo Hug. The supporters of Los Diablos Rojos booed when Rojo for ever was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amancio Abeitia didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 35th minute of the match Jose Piearres sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Isaac Misael skillfully saved the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sergio Astigar to make the kick off. Arnoldo Amor's late challenge caught a Rojo for ever's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. If Celso Phelipe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 91 minutes, Rodolfo Hug mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rojo for ever and the Los Diablos Rojos players grew even worse after the yellow card.
