The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Cleto Hermelando got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 4 minutes into the match, GaboN F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Cleto Hermelando came free, but Erubiel Lizardi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wilfredo Toribio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicolas Lopes having to interfere. Cleto Hermelando recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Mario Furman came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the San Martin FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mario Furman couldn't finish the play. If Cleto Hermelando had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alejo Ubelteso's late challenge caught a San Martin FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alejo Ubelteso helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to GaboN F.C. getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Alejo Ubelteso hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hipolito Bernat in the 22nd minute of play forced San Martin FC's goalkeeper Nicolas Lopes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 28th play minutes Cleto Hermelando shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Erubiel Lizardi and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 32nd minute, Cleto Hermelando got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Octavio Jaen in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Erubiel Lizardi saved GaboN F.C. from getting behind. After having played for 43 minutes, Octavio Jaen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. San Martin FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Octavio Jaen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cleto Hermelando was the one to do the kick off. If Filomeno Jokin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cleto Hermelando received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Erubiel Lizardi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. GaboN F.C.'s Erubiel Lizardi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save GaboN F.C. from getting a goal against them. San Martin FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
