Cristo Palben scored 0-1 in the 3rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Amadeo Pasqual, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice moves Angel Bermudez could shoot a difficult shot in the 6th minute, which Natalio Quico however easily saved by the left post. When Mariano Walme came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Real Betis fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mariano Walme couldn't finish the play. In the 9th minute Mariano Walme shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Natalio Quico saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Cristo Palben came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Godoy Cruz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristo Palben couldn't finish the play. Amadeo Pasqual made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristo Palben in the 13th minute of play. If Dalmacio Eufemio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristo Palben fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amadeo Pasqual having to interfere. Natalio Quico made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Walme in the 23rd minute of play. Angel Bermudez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Natalio Quico tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dalmacio Eufemio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 38 minutes into the match, Angel Bermudez notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Godoy Cruz's Natalio Quico. Natalio Quico was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 45th minute, Angel Bermudez reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Natalio Quico. The goal made the score 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The wind increased when Mariano Walme made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th match minute, Godoy Cruz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Feliciano Odol to maneuver through the defense. Angel Bermudez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dalmacio Eufemios short, quick shot in the 66thth minute got Amadeo Pasqual to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 68 minutes in the game, Cristo Palben dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Mariano Walme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Natalio Quico having to interfere. Godoy Cruz's Dalmacio Eufemio got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Godoy Cruz booed when Real Betis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabio Justin didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Real Betis's Amadeo Pasqual got control of the ball when Dalmacio Eufemio tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cristo Palben fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amadeo Pasqual having to interfere. With his leg Amadeo Pasqual managed to avoid a goal in the 85thth minute, when Godoy Cruz's Dalmacio Eufemio fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Cristo Palben received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Amadeo Pasqual tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Dalmacio Eufemio came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Godoy Cruz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dalmacio Eufemio couldn't finish the play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
