With a little luck, Independiente's Hector Odol got control of the ball when Ignacio Iliana tried to sneak it across the goal line. Igor Sal kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. Hector Odol took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Santiago Poncio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 10th minute, Iker Ugutz made a precise shot to the right of Cristobal Gaufred. Instituto Plate's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Hector Odol showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santiago Poncio in the 15th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Independiente's Ubaldo Corderro got a free kick in the 15th minute. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Instituto Plate's goalkeeper Cristobal Gaufred, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Iker Ugutz in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cristobal Gaufred saved Instituto Plate from getting behind. Independiente were awarded a corner in the 22th minute after Instituto Plate's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Emiliano Petri took the corner. After taking down the ball on Independiente's corner Emiliano Petri fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Cristobal Gaufred quite easily take care of the ball. Cristobal Gaufred didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Iker Ugutz went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Instituto Plate's zone, Igor Sal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cristobal Gaufred came out of the goal and Igor Sal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Roman Mendebal kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Cristobal Gaufred made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iker Ugutz in the 31st minute of play. After 32 played minutes Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Eduardo Sidoro. Iker Ugutz struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Cristobal Gaufred didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Independiente. The supporters of Independiente booed when Instituto Plate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roman Mendebal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Independiente's Igor Sal got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Santiago Poncio to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Instituto Plate's Benjamin Hondo got a free kick in the 51st minute. Cristobal Gaufred made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emiliano Petri in the 52nd minute of play. Eduardo Sidoro kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. In the 54th minute of the match Delmar Cortez sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hector Odol skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Aquilino Oso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Independiente's supporters rose to their feet, but Aquilino Oso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cristobal Gaufred breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Emiliano Petri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Roman Mendebal charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roman Mendebal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cristobal Gaufred made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Aquilino Oso sent off a good shot on target. After 75 minutes of play, Independiente's Emiliano Petri made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cristobal Gaufred was left in no man's land by his defense there! Aquilino Oso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aquilino Oso in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cristobal Gaufred saved Instituto Plate from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aquilino Oso got free with Cristobal Gaufred in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Instituto Plate's Cristobal Gaufred proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Instituto Plate from getting a goal against them. Cristobal Gaufred made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iker Ugutz in the 93rd minute of play. If Igor Sal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Abel Federigo hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. In the 97th match minute, Instituto Plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Federigo to maneuver through the defense.
