Match Report
Estadio Urusmayo
Spectators: 7240 (Terracing: 5432,
Seating: 1665, VIP seats: 143) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Narciso Erauso took the kick off in the first half of the match. Iker Pirro came out of the goal in the 7th minute to try and stop a shot by Cavour's Faustino Ekain. But to his dismay, Faustino Ekain quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 12th minute, Fulgencio Milio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 19th minute Ricardo Medero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iker Pirro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gregorio Ospin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 24 minutes into the game, Aquiles Suero was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cavour's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AGPS the free kick. The goalkeeper, Teofilo Gartzi, was totally fooled by AGPS's Eliseo Brion, who 25 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. If Gregorio Ospin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in AGPS's zone, Faustino Ekain stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iker Pirro came out of the goal and Faustino Ekain tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Ricardo Medero came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Cavour fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardo Medero couldn't finish the play. Benigno Laurin charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Benigno Laurin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to AGPS getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Benigno Laurin hit a great ball. After 41 minutes, Gregorio Ospin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AGPS and the Cavour players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Cavour booed when AGPS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gregorio Ospin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Iker Pirro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Faustino Ekain, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ricardo Medero to make the kick off. Wilfredo Bizen's late challenge caught a Cavour's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wilfredo Bizen helped the player get up and apologised. After 53 played minutes AGPS got a freekick which was hit by Wilfredo Bizen. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Ricardo Medero managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cavour's supporters rose to their feet, but Ricardo Medero was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Iker Pirro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 56 played minutes AGPS got a freekick which was hit by Benigno Laurin. After some careless play in the AGPS defense, Faustino Ekain kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Iker Pirro. The AGPS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Iker Pirro should have stopped the shot. After 60 minutes, Fulgencio Milio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cavour and the AGPS players grew even worse after the yellow card. Fulgencio Milio hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. In the 70th minute, Ricardo Medero got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 79 minutes into the match, Cavour's goal looked a bit too open when Narciso Erauso came free, but Teofilo Gartzi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Cavour booed when AGPS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tadeo Leguizamón didn't get a good kick on the ball. Teofilo Gartzi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gregorio Ospin went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score.
