In the 14th minute, Cleto Ermengol ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Aquiles Benitez was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 18thth minute of the game Cleto Ermengol who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Punto Unido FC's Aquiles Benitez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Baltasar Haritzeder charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Baltasar Haritzeder the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Irving SS's Alfredo Celino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cayetano Rodriguez in the 21st minute of play. Cleto Ermengol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cleto Ermengol in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aquiles Benitez saved Punto Unido FC from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Punto Unido FC's Hugo Chepe got a free kick in the 29th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cleto Ermengol in the 30th managed to get into a good position. Alfredo Celino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cayetano Rodriguez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Delmar Romano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aquiles Benitez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 48th minute of play. After the first half Irving SS were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cleto Ermengol to make the kick off. After having played for 53 minutes, Delmar Romano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Irving SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Delmar Romano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Cleto Ermengol put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Aquiles Benitez. Cleto Ermengol recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Delmar Romano came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Irving SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Delmar Romano couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as Irving SS's Delmar Romano slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Aquiles Benitez. That made the score 0-4 after 70 minutes of play. The audience was convinced that Cleto Ermengol's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aquiles Benitez was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. If Delmar Romano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cleto Ermengol struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Aquiles Benitez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Irving SS. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Punto Unido FC's goalkeeper Aquiles Benitez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Delmar Romano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Irving SS's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
