Genaro Regis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruben Otoniel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Genaro Regis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Background FC. After 29 minutes, Emilio Incantalupi made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Leonardo's Genaro Regis tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Arnaldo Isaio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 37th minute, Ruben Otoniel fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Background FC's Emilio Incantalupi got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 39 minutes, Ramon Alonso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Leonardo and the Background FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Iordache Melentie charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Iordache Melentie the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Iordache Melentie hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. 49 minutes had been played when some careless play by Background FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Arturo Iruinea was slow to take the kick. During this time Leonardo's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Leonardo's Arturo Iruinea to fire away a dangerous shot which Horacio Cutberto despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Evaristo Iigo to make the kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Background FC's goalkeeper Horacio Cutberto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Arnaldo Isaio. A very good chance. 73 minutes into the game, Emilio Incantalupi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Genaro Regis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 77th minute Evaristo Iigo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horacio Cutberto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Background FC's Emilio Incantalupi in the 96th minute got a chance for a shot 96th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Leonardo's goalie prevented a goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Background FC had played much better football throughout.
