If Elvio Buinton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Elvio Buinton scored 0-1 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rosendo Jurgi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Uriel Matei made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Rene Brais sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Tucuman FC booed when Villa Mercedes Unido was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roberto Rocio didn't get a good kick on the ball. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Elvio Buinton was the one to do the kick off. After 52 minutes of play, Tucuman FC's Rene Brais made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Uriel Matei was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Elvio Buinton took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Rosendo Jurgi to make any attempt to save it. In the 59th minute, Leonel Bela hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Miguel Meder hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. 66 minutes into the match, Tucuman FC's goal looked a bit too open when Elvio Buinton came free, but Rosendo Jurgi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tucuman FC's Rosendo Jurgi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elvio Buinton in the 70th minute of play. In the 72nd minute Miguel Rik suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Joaquin Eufemio during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 73rd match minute, Villa Mercedes Unido was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquin Eufemio to maneuver through the defense. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elvio Buinton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rosendo Jurgi having to interfere. Villa Mercedes Unido played a much better game than Tucuman FC and deserved their victory. The Tucuman FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
