Los Duendes Verdes's Hilario Argenis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rene Brais in the 15th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rogelio Oihenarte in the 19th minute of play forced Tucuman FC's goalkeeper Rosendo Jurgi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 19 played minutes Tucuman FC got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Rik. When Rogelio Oihenarte came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Los Duendes Verdes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rogelio Oihenarte couldn't finish the play. In the 23rd minute Leonel Bela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hilario Argenis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Melchor Bartoleme, 44 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After a rather tough play, Tucuman FC's Miguel Rik got a free kick in the 45th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Rosendo Jurgi made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Rogelio Oihenarte sent off a good shot on target. An unexpected shot in the 54th minute by Ciriaco Etxeberri got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Ciriaco Etxeberri sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 63rd minute, Los Duendes Verdes's Ciriaco Etxeberri dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-1. Rosendo Jurgi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ciriaco Etxeberri, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Rogelio Oihenarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rosendo Jurgi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ciriaco Etxeberri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Los Duendes Verdes booed when Tucuman FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Inocencio Dalmai didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ciriaco Etxeberri recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ciriaco Etxeberri received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Rosendo Jurgi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
