An unexpectedly hard shot by Timoteo Blanco in the 17th minute of play forced Chancay's goalkeeper Alonzo Venceslao to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

During this time Carnerito's players had a chance to rest. After a defensive mix-up in Carnerito's zone, Aristides Edorta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Godfredo Janpier came out of the goal and Aristides Edorta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alonzo Venceslao showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Timoteo Blanco in the 63rd minute of the match. Godfredo Janpier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aristides Edorta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Chico got free with Alonzo Venceslao in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Timoteo Blanco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alonzo Venceslao was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. Albano Burutzagi's late challenge caught a Carnerito's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Albano Burutzagi helped the player get up and apologised. Norberto Jerano might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Godfredo Janpier. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Norberto Jerano ran back to his position shaking his head. If Teodosio Ostargi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. Carnerito's supporters crossed their fingers, but Timoteo Blanco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Carnerito's Carlos Chico got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carlos Chico recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
