Rodolfo Guipuzkoa started the match with the kick off. 6 minutes into the match, Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba's goal looked a bit too open when Rodolfo Guipuzkoa came free, but Esteve Tiadoro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marciano Gabon in the 10th minute of play forced Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba's goalkeeper Esteve Tiadoro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raul Dolcet in the 15th minute of play forced Córdoba United FC's goalkeeper Silvestre Etxekopar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raul Dolcet recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba's zone, Rodolfo Guipuzkoa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Esteve Tiadoro came out of the goal and Rodolfo Guipuzkoa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marciano Gabon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Esteve Tiadoro having to interfere. Rodolfo Guipuzkoa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fabricio Quinteros in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Silvestre Etxekopar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Raul Dolcet struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Silvestre Etxekopar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba.

The wind increased when Fabricio Quinteros made the kick off in the second half. Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba's Esteve Tiadoro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodolfo Guipuzkoa in the 55th minute of play. After 61 minutes, Celedonio Napier mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Córdoba United FC and the Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 61st minute, Celedonio Napier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba's Arnaldo Urtsua couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Córdoba United FC. Silvestre Etxekopar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabricio Quinteros in the 73rd minute of play. Desiderio Belo charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Desiderio Belo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Desiderio Belo hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. After 80 minutes of play, Córdoba United FC's Marciano Gabon made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Esteve Tiadoro was left in no man's land by his defense there! Silvestre Etxekopar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raul Dolcet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dante Sindo hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. A collision led to Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Oscar Oskarbi hit a great ball. In the 93rd minute, Lázaro Oriche sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba's Esteve Tiadoro didn't even have to move. Celedonio Napier might have been able to make a better finish in the 98th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Esteve Tiadoro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Celedonio Napier ran back to his position shaking his head.
