But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eusebio Onofre couldn't finish the play. Gaston Mogel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eusebio Onofre, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Virgilio Bidari made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristobal Rito in the 16th minute of play. When Cesar Koldo, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 17 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Virgilio Bidari was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After 25th play minutes Erasmo Mirande shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Virgilio Bidari and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 28th match minute, The Mechanics FC. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Candido Oxarra to maneuver through the defense. Gaston Mogel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eusebio Onofre went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Paulino Dodorol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Erasmo Mirande made the kick off in the second half. Cesar Koldo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Garupá FC getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Justo Frisco hit a great ball. When Erasmo Mirande, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 58 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Virgilio Bidari was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Cesar Koldo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cesar Koldo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgilio Bidari having to interfere. Cesar Koldo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Virgilio Bidari tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eusebio Onofre recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erasmo Mirande in the 70th minute of play forced Garupá FC's goalkeeper Virgilio Bidari to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd match minute, Garupá FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonardo Hulberto to maneuver through the defense. Erasmo Mirande sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gaston Mogel didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 78th minute, which inside left pole to 1-2. Eusebio Onofre came free with the goalkeeper in the 82nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Gaston Mogel could save by the left post. Garupá FC's Virgilio Bidari played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cesar Koldo in the 84th minute of play. Erasmo Mirande sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cesar Koldo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Virgilio Bidari tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Garupá FC's zone, Erasmo Mirande stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Virgilio Bidari came out of the goal and Erasmo Mirande tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 98 minutes, Erasmo Mirande managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The Mechanics FC.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Erasmo Mirande was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Garupá FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Garupá FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
