Filomeno Karlo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alejo Gaur having to interfere. Alejo Gaur took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antonio Abreu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alejo Gaur showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filomeno Karlo in the 12th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gervasio Raymond during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 14th minute, one of Murquilla AFC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Murquilla AFC. The referee gave Columbus a penalty, 16 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Antonio Abreu, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Murquilla AFC's Alejo Gaur. 1-1. Jairo Miro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 20thth minute tested the skills of Baldomero Benvido when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Domingo Ritchie took the ball and in the 29 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Baldomero Benvido. Baldomero Benvido dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. 32 minutes into the match, Murquilla AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Luciano Fidencio came free, but Alejo Gaur reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Columbus booed when Murquilla AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Domingo Ritchie didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Antonio Abreu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alejo Gaur was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Danilo Amato blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alejo Gaur having to make a save. 38 minutes into the game, Columbus's Luciano Fidencio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alejo Gaur made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. Filomeno Karlo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Alejo Gaur tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Columbus were leading 2-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sixto Salomon to make the kick off. Murquilla AFC's Fausto Jesco got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 55th minute Filomeno Karlo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alejo Gaur saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Murquilla AFC's Alejo Gaur proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Murquilla AFC from getting a goal against them. Baldomero Benvido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sixto Salomon in the 63rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sixto Salomon in the 66th minute of play forced Columbus's goalkeeper Baldomero Benvido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Columbus's zone, Fausto Jesco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Baldomero Benvido came out of the goal and Fausto Jesco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Antonio Abreu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Alejo Gaur tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 82nd play minute Antonio Abreu came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Alejo Gaur. 3-5. Alejo Gaur showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Filomeno Karlo, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Danilo Amato fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alejo Gaur having to interfere. Alejo Gaur yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-6. The Murquilla AFC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Columbus were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
