With a left leg Cesar Shepherd saved La Calabria from getting behind. Eustaquio Fernandez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Cesar Shepherd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 16 minutes into the match, La Calabria's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Bautista came free, but Cesar Shepherd reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cesar Shepherd showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eustaquio Fernandez in the 19th minute of the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 21 minutes into the game, when Prudencio Umea put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in La Calabria fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 20th minute. Penalty! In the 27th minute Ildefonso George shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cesar Shepherd saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 27 played minutes La Calabria got a freekick which was hit by Faustino Nalo. Paulo Bautista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cesar Shepherd having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Taboada FC's zone, Humberto Matia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Isidro Dabi came out of the goal and Humberto Matia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Humberto Matia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eriberto Berriotxoa charged in rather forcefully in the 48th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eriberto Berriotxoa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Taboada FC getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Humberto Matia was the one to do the kick off. Cesar Shepherd showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Bautista, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Isidro Dabi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cecilio Frans, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Eusebio Montae had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Taboada FC's Paulo Bautista got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cesar Shepherd made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Bautista in the 69th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Humberto Matia in the 73rd minute of play forced Taboada FC's goalkeeper Isidro Dabi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paulo Bautista was extremely unlucky when he, in the 77th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 78 minutes into the match, Eustaquio Fernandez had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cesar Shepherd. La Calabria's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eustaquio Fernandez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Paulo Bautista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Eustaquio Fernandez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Taboada FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Taboada FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
