Emilio Jatsu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arturo Chinto, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Nicolas Acevedo took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Emilio Jatsu. Emilio Jatsu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Donato Santana's late challenge caught a Choromoro's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Donato Santana helped the player get up and apologised. After 34 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Chumillo! In the 39th minute, Guido Tauro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Arturo Chinto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Chumillo were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
