Tomas Jax came out of the goal and Eustaquio Bitxintxo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eustaquio Bitxintxo's late challenge caught a Club Atlético River Plate's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eustaquio Bitxintxo helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Ampallo getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Eustaquio Bitxintxo hit a great ball. If Saturnino Efraim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Saturnino Efraim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baldomiro Colon having to interfere. The supporters of Club Atlético River Plate booed when Ampallo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Dorio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Baldomiro Colon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Saturnino Efraim, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Camilo Dorio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 41 minutes, Camilo Dorio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ampallo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Camilo Dorio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paolo Berdoi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Camilo Dorio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tomas Jax having to make a save. 47 minutes into the match, Ampallo's Camilo Dorio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tomas Jax narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Camilo Dorio to make the kick off. Paolo Berdoi might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tomas Jax. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Club Atlético River Plate's Tomas Jax played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Camilo Dorio in the 75th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paolo Berdoi in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tomas Jax prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Adolfo Cruz during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Adolfo Cruz hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Tomas Jax made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paolo Berdoi in the 90th minute of play. A collision led to Ampallo getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Silvestre Orzaize hit a great ball. Tomas Jax showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eustaquio Bitxintxo, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Ampallo had played much better football throughout.
