After a defensive mix-up in ProvidenciaClub's zone, Augusto Urtsua stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tobias Bartuelo came out of the goal and Augusto Urtsua tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Augusto Urtsua had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 22 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de la Plata's goal looked a bit too open when Arsenio Salvino came free, but Ubaldo Dolfo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 34th minute Victorio Frederik shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ubaldo Dolfo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristobal Chepe got free with Tobias Bartuelo in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cristobal Chepe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristobal Chepe's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tobias Bartuelo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
