Garupá's Alejandro Fix played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mario Barrionuevo in the 14th minute of play. Ciriaco Orland made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ulises Lastur in the 17th minute of play. When Tomás Erasto fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ferri's protests and gave Tomás Erasto a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ferri getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Tomás Erasto hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Ulises Lastur's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ciriaco Orland was relentless in the 20th minute of the game.
