Pudlemere United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Laguna AFC the free kick. In the 17th match minute, Pudlemere United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gustavo Gai to maneuver through the defense. Patricio Vellito fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Everardo Roano having to interfere. Pudlemere United's supporters rose to their feet, but Roberto Nesto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ulises Gonsalvo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
